At St Joseph’s Secondary School, Ballybunion we are proud to offer the Leaving Certificate Applied programme - a practical student-centred option designed to prepare young people for life after school. This programme is available to students who wish to follow a practical Leaving Certificate programme with a vocational focus.
This programme focuses on personal development, practical learning and workplace skills, giving students the confidence and experience that they need to succeed in further education, training or employment.
Work experience which takes place every Wednesday is a significant component of the programme and students can get to sample a range of jobs.
Coursework is assessed throughout the two years and students gain credits for ongoing attendance, classwork and assignments as well as student tasks as they progress.

The Leaving Certificate Applied is awarded at three levels; Distinction, Merit and Pass. Credits are gained as a result of ongoing attendance, classwork and assignments, student tasks and final examinations.
